🧂 Ingredients¶
Ingredient | Imperial | Metric |
---|---|---|
Red onion, diced | ⅓ cup | ~50g |
Lime juice | From 2 limes | ~60ml |
Garlic, minced | 2 cloves | ~6g |
Sea salt | ¾ teaspoon | ~4g |
Ripe avocados | 3 large | ~600g (200g each) |
Roma tomatoes, diced | 2 | ~240g |
Fresh cilantro, chopped | ½ cup | ~20g |
Jalapeño, diced | 1, seeded | ~15g |
🥣 Instructions¶
-
🧅 Marinate aromatics:
In a large mixing bowl, combine ⅓ cup (50g) diced red onion, juice of 2 limes (~60ml), 2 minced garlic cloves (6g), and ¾ teaspoon (4g) sea salt. Stir well and let sit for 10 minutes. This mellows the sharpness of the raw onion and garlic. -
🥑 Mash avocados:
Halve and pit 3 large ripe avocados (~600g total). Scoop out the flesh and add to the bowl. Use a fork for a chunky texture or a potato masher for a smooth dip. Mash to your desired consistency. -
🍅 Add fresh mix-ins:
Gently fold in 2 diced roma tomatoes (~240g), ½ cup (20g) chopped fresh cilantro, and 1 seeded and diced jalapeño pepper (~15g). Mix until well combined. -
🧪 Taste and adjust:
Taste your guacamole. Add more lime juice or salt if needed. Serve immediately.
🔖 Notes¶
- For chunkier guacamole, mash with a fork. For smoother texture, use a potato masher.
- If avocados are small or underripe, stir in a spoonful of sour cream to stretch the mixture.
- To keep guacamole from browning, press plastic wrap directly on the surface before storing.
