Infuse the Garlic Oil:
In a small skillet, heat 2 tablespoons (30 mL) olive oil and 4 minced garlic cloves (~12 g) over medium-low heat. Sauté gently for 2–3 minutes until very fragrant—do not let the garlic brown. Remove from heat and transfer to a medium mixing bowl to cool slightly. -
Prepare the Tomato Mixture:
To the cooled garlic oil, add: - 6 diced Roma tomatoes (465 g)
- ⅓ cup (10 g) thinly sliced basil
- 3 tablespoons (45 mL) balsamic vinegar
- ½ teaspoon (3 g) salt
- ¼ teaspoon (1 g) ground black pepper
Stir to combine. Cover and let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 12 hours.

Toast the Baguette:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Slice 1 baguette into 24 half-inch (1.25 cm) slices.
Lightly brush both sides of each slice with the remaining 1 tablespoon (15 mL) olive oil.
Place on a baking sheet in a single layer and toast for 12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown. -
Serve:
Just before serving, top each toasted baguette slice with a generous spoonful of the marinated tomato mixture. Serve immediately.

- For extra garlic flavor, rub each toasted baguette slice with a halved garlic clove before topping.
