Breakfast - Cream of Wheat Comfort Bowl¶
A cozy, nostalgic start to your day! This warm, creamy bowl is sweetened with brown sugar and maple syrup, finished with fresh berries. It’s the perfect blend of comfort and simplicity.
🧂 Ingredients (Serves 2)¶
- 2 cups (480 ml) milk
- ⅓ cup (55 g) Cream of Wheat®
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract
- ½ tablespoon (7 g) butter
- 2 tablespoons (28 g) dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) pure maple syrup
- Fresh blueberries and raspberries, optional for topping
🍳 Instructions¶
- In a medium saucepan, combine milk, vanilla extract, and butter.
- Heat over medium-high until just beginning to boil — watch closely to prevent overflowing.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add salt and slowly pour in Cream of Wheat, stirring continuously to ensure a smooth texture. (Pouring it all at once may create lumps — which are fine if preferred!)
- Cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens to your desired consistency — about 2½ minutes.
- Divide the hot cereal between two bowls.
- Stir 1 tablespoon brown sugar into each serving, then drizzle 1 tablespoon maple syrup on top.
- Garnish with fresh berries if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
